Back in the old days of HvZ, say 2007-2012, players were limited to
crappy pre-Elite N-Strike blasters. To supplement human firepower many
players used blowguns and sock grenades. Some players who focused on
grenades but did not fall under the traditional “Grenadier” class became
what are known now as “Sock Ninjas”. Essentially these are light, fast
scout type players who would run with a minimal loadout, no blasters –
and relied exclusively on socks.
One of the tools of
the Sock Ninja trade which seems to have fallen out of popularity was
the “Pro Tube”. Essentially players would fill empty tennis ball tubes
with their sock grenades. First it was the cheap little/short disposable
tubes that came with the balls - you would mount several on your belt
and fill them with balled-up socks.
Later the pinnacle of Sock Grenade carrying-capability was achieved with
the discovery of the Tennis Ball Pick-Up Tube. This is a long tube with
rubber bands or a rubber cap at one end, and an opening at the other
with a small rubber gasket. It features a shoulder strap and it’s easily
accessible.
So to bring it back into the NERF/HvZ lexicon, here is an HvZ “Pro
Tube”. These run for between 20-30 dollars, depending on store and
quality.
Tell your Sock Ninja friends.
